The Open Empathy Organization

The Open Empathy Organization (OEM) promotes a model of individual and group empathy based on the collaborative human interaction within a team, and supports a cognitive model for individual and group interventions. This model can be used together to promote more effective individual, group and team implementation, and serve as an educational tool by showing the possibility of using a complex mechanism, such as a link, to facilitate more effective intervention efforts. Empathy practices include: (a) the collaborative human interaction, (b) the interaction between the partners, (c) a structured process, and (d) the adaptive and collaborative development of the group. There are a number of cognitive models of human interaction that have been developed, such as the Empathic Autonomy Index and the Empathic Friendship Index. Each cognitive model may be developed individually, both in a single-component, and multi-component framework. The individual Cognitive Index provides information on what the cooperation and collaboration process is intended to accomplish and whether the cognitive model, developed for a particular task role or task level, is a benefit to the partnership in achieving or maintaining a goal through a collaborative tool. The Empathic Friendship Index states the cooperation goal as a measure of the shared effort toward mutual benefit of the user and the partner relating to the goals. This article provides an overview of most of the cognitive models from Empathic Autonomy Index to OEM, demonstrating the usefulness of individualized cognitive models, combined with the cognitive model for a specific task role and task level, in facilitating collaboration in team-based interventions.
